Call for CV: Program Officer, FINANCE OFFICER AND EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

South Sudanese candidates only. 

Seeking university-educated South Sudanese or African willing to live full-time in South Sudan to conduct routine M&E and communications duties for grant reporting, financial management and secretarial tasks. IT skills and knowledge of university enrollment processes in Africa are a plus. 

Contract is initially 3-months, with opportunity to renew based on quality of performance.

Call for CV: SCIENCE TEACHERS and LAB TECHNICIANS (South Sudan, Kenya and UGanda Nationality)

The VAD Foundation seeks biology, chemistry and physics teachers, and a science lab technician with university training. English proficiency and residency in East Africa is required. The position is based in Marial Bai, South Sudan from February - December with break periods between terms, flights and accommodations for residents of Uganda and Kenya. 

Responsibilities:

Teachers at the Marial Bai Secondary School will teach 3-5 sections in their subject areas, and will have additional responsibilities such as student advising, mentoring, and participation in programs for adult literacy, vocational training, and youth empowerment. Teachers will be expected to actively participate in school events, to work with the local community in developing a community-driven educational center, and to perform other non-teaching duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of successful completion of secondary education. Academic experience at the university level or at a teacher-training institution will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates must demonstrate mastery of their subject areas, competence in teaching methods and pedagogy, and extensive classroom experience at the secondary level.
  • Strong English skills, knowledge of local dialect (Dinka) or Arabic a plus.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Skills in community mobilization/sensitization will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to use modern information technology systems will be an added advantage.

Salesforce Admin Volunteer - U.S. Applicants only

Want to use your talent to give back?

We're a very small and friendly non-profit organization, with the majority of our staff running programs in East Africa. You would be part of a special volunteer team that keeps our US operations running.

Responsibilities:

  • Export/Import data from Paypal / Stripe
  • Data fixes and data entry
  • Build custom reports / dashboards
  • Write out instructions for crosstraining manual
  • Advise on software integration

Qualifications:

  • Have previous professional Salesforce Administrator experience and certification
  • Excellent communication and time management
  • Prior interest in African issues, especially South Sudan-related issues a plus!
  • A positive attitude and a sense of humor.

College Internship - U.S. Applicants only

Interns are responsible for a variety of tasks. Making changes to the website, generating content for our social media pages,  participating in correspondence with donors, and organizing volunteers are just a few of the day to day tasks that our interns do here at the VAD Foundation.

This will be a great experience for anyone looking to pursue a career in marketing, business administration, journalism, and/or international affairs.  You will have the opportunity to work with experts in the field and receive valuable training to work within the non-profit sector.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • A strong and proven work ethic, and the ability to work independently in an unstructured environment.
  • Good working knowledge of standard computer software, Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet research.
  • Knowledge of Adobe software such as Photoshop and InDesign, CSS and Wordpress or Squarespace is a plus.
  • Prior interest in African issues, especially Sudan-related issues is a plus.
