In its inaugural year, the Alok Girls’ Academy is ranked as one of the best schools in the country. We are providing quality education for 160 girls in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. In South Sudan, approximately 10% of girls enter secondary school, and as few as 2% graduate. We are working to change the girls’ graduation rate by hiring highly-trained and passionate teachers that are dedicated to the success of our students. Our goal is to properly prepare the girls so that they may succeed in and graduate from secondary school.

Akech Madut — Seventh Grade

I am thirteen years old and am in primary seven. I love Alok Girls’ Academy. I heard about it from my friends and decided to enroll because it is the best school for girls. I like English and want to continue learning it because it is an international language. I have two brothers and two sisters. I am the only one who goes to school. During the holidays, I always visit my relatives in the countryside. I read, cook and play volleyball with my friends during my free time. My favorite color is violet. When I grow up, I want to become an engineer.
