Earlier this month, the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation was honored to participate in the US-Africa Leaders Summit. The summit was an unprecedented step forward in US-African relations. Valentino Deng as well as Tiffany DeBartolo, Board Member, represented the VAD Foundation at the Summit.
Economic growth in Africa is at an all-time high. With a growing middle class, untapped resources, and need for energy, Africa is one of the most dynamic regions in the world.  President Obama stressed the need to invest in African success by focusing on the next generation of African leaders. Stimulating growth, creating enabling environments, and unlocking opportunities were cited at the Summit as being the most effective ways to promote future success in Africa. The VAD Foundation works to achieve this success through providing excellent educational opportunities—ones that South Sudanese students in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and neighboring states would not have without your support of the VAD Foundation and MBSS.

"In the 21st century, Africa will be the only continent whose youth population will continue to significantly expand.  There is a shared understanding between the United States and African partners that the future success of African nations will depend on the leadership, skills, and ingenuity of the continent’s youth. " US office of Press Secretary

You can contribute to the progress made at the US-Africa Summit by donating to a success story from South Sudan: the VAD Foundation and Marial Bai Secondary School continue to provide unprecedented access to educational, entrepreneurial, and sustainable opportunities. Since 2013, the VADF and MBSS have invested in empowering women in the Marial Bai community as well as implementing programs at MBSS to increase small-business activity in the region. With your donations, the VADF and Marial Bai Secondary School can continue to build a stronger community and future.
