Our students, teachers, support staff and the host community of Marial Bai are all safe during this difficult time of conflict in South Sudan. The State of Northern Bahr el Ghazal where MBSS is located is calm and currently one of the safest places in the country of South Sudan.
The last school year ended in November of 2013 and our 12th grade students concluded the cumulative national examinations un-interrupted. Unfortunately, many students in other regions have had their learning put on hold. We are hoping to extend scholarship opportunities to students that have been affected by recent outbreak of violence in Bentiu, Malakal and Bor towns. Marial Bai Secondary School began in 2007, before South Sudan was an independent country, and the VAD Foundation is committed to continuing our support of education and progress in the region.
The political turmoil in South Sudan directly affects market supply and demand, which raises price of local commodities. Now, more than ever, we need your support! Your donations keep our students, teachers, and families moving forward. A small gift goes a long way in South Sudan to provide food, water, text books, and accommodations for all of our School community. The political unrest has made it more expensive to access and transport goods for the upcoming school year. With your help, we are committed to being an unwavering support for providing access to quality education to the young minds in South Sudan.
