Alok Girls’ Academy Update (11/15/20)

On October 5th, 2020, the Government of South Sudan allowed schools to open their doors to 8th and 12th grades in order to prepare and sit for exams in the Spring of 2021.

When schools re-opened, we welcomed 28 8th graders back to Alok Girls' Academy (AGA). While masks are not required in South Sudan, due to the slower spread of the virus, we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our staff and students. Classes are conducted outside, students' desks are spaced 6 feet apart, and regular handwashing is required. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), a partner NGO that supports girls' education in South Sudan, has generously donated sanitary kits to our staff and students to help support our COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

We are excited to welcome back our 28 students and look forward to all that the upcoming year has in store!
